How often should you post to social media
Your audience is all over social media. It only makes sense that you should be there too. But just how present should you be? How often is TOO often, and when is it not enough? Here’s how to stay relevant on social media without breaking the brain – or the bank.
We get the question a lot. “How often should I post to social media?”
And the answer isn’t exactly straightforward…
Factors that affect posting frequency
- If you’re a brand new business trying to get some traction, you’ll already be running paid ads. You really don’t need to invest a ton of time, money, or additional resources into frequent social posts because the return on investment will simply not be worth it.
- Say you’re an eCommerce business that’s just getting started. You may not have a large social following or email list yet. You also don’t need to invest too much into posting to social platforms multiple times a day. Hiring someone to manage your social media for you just won’t be a worthwhile venture until you have a sizable social following. Only then will it start to pay off.
Social media best practices
What we recommend to clients is to do about three posts a week, usually on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday or Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday – or something along those lines. The main goal is to maintain an active presence. So, if you’re running any kind of ads, anyone who clicks on an ad and then on your profile picture will be taken to your page.
If they see a page with zero posts, or worse, posts from a few years ago, they won’t believe that you are a trustworthy business.
Regular social posts are only intended to maintain an active presence to remain relevant and establish trust and legitimacy. It is only once you reach the point of about 10,000 Facebook followers or 10,ooo – 20,000 Instagram followers that a social media manager will be a worthwhile investment.
There you go; you’re all set for social media success.
